About Once Around The Kitchen

Let Me Cook Ya Damn Food

Hi! I’m Dré Glass, the woman behind the pickles!
Once Around The Kitchen is what my Grams calls it when you sort through your kitchen to make what you can with what you have. I took what I had in my kitchen and made a business.

I started OATK in 2019 as a way to offer healthy, home-cooked meals to service industry professionals. It’s hard eating right on a 24hr schedules and everyone who has ever worked a “clopen” deserves something homemade.

When the pandemic shut the city down OATK was still providing weekly meal baskets to people in New Orleans who wanted something fresh. Through their donations and tips, OATK was able to send over 100 meals each week to Woman’s Space Shelter and community fridges all over the city.

Our mission statement now and has always been to help our community by providing accessibility within the food system and that begins with supporting local farmers and small sustainable farm operations.

Community, to us, means collaboration. This is why we strive to provide opportunities and platforms for other small local businesses through our events and art markets.

Today, Once Around The Kitchen is a market pantry. All of our ingredients are either grown by me personally or are sourced from small local farmers. Made the old fashioned way, we use no commercial pectin or preservatives in our products. All of our products are gluten free, and most are vegan with the exception of a few that contain local honey. Here at Once Around The Kitchen, we believe that food is a right not a privilege and that quality healthy food should be available to all.
